The Power of the Subconcious Mind. X V,OO

Hello everyone,

Let's begin by asking ourselves:x "What Is the Subconscious Mind?" I could write volumes and quote hundreds of scholars, regarding this topic, but I promised to make it simple and try to have the complex subjects, a bit more"Palatable"... We are told that the 'Subconscious mind', is about 90% of our mind... (which is similar to computer) By the way, I could never understand how or who, measured it and came  up with such an exact number.... However, if indeed it is so, there is something to worry about; since we may often be functioning Without the involvement of our Conscious Mind...

Our senses, have the power to activate Unconscious Memories and emotions and associate  with them... For example: If during our childhood, we had a punishing 'Mean Teacher' and years late, we meet a "Stranger", who Looks or Behaves like our 'old teacher', we may experience an immediate 'dislike' to him, which is totally unjustified! Anther example is    the time we fall in love... It is quite possible, that this new person, reminds us of a Family Member, we dearly love, a Teacher we cared for, or a Movie Star we admired as a Teen Ager...  This, may cause us to ignore some faults and 'negative qualities', of this "New Person", whom we have just met and barely know...

This incredible "Computer" of ours, named the 'Subconscious Mind', is in charge (among other things) of our Involuntary Functions; like Breathing, which sends Oxygen to different parts of the body, handling the complex processes of digestion and elimination, provides Alkaline or Acid to our stomach, in order to digest our food, select the proper Nutrients, which turn it into fuel for our body and store some, in case of an emergency... This amazing Inner Computer, is behind other functions as well; like the removal of our body's Dead Cells and replacing them with new cells, so the body may be able to repair and heal itself from Accidents, Illness and Emotional Traumas...

Dr. X Depak Chopra clams, that we have an 'Inner Pharmacy', capable of producing any kind of medicine, which the Pharmaceutical Industry is selling  with one difference only: "Our Medicine" has No side effects!  He also tells us that our body, is capable of regenerating all our organs, bones and spine, within less than a year...  I remember reading, that every one hundred and eighty days we create new Blood Cells and a new Liver; once a year... X"If we try to create these complicated functions by ourselves, using our conscious mind only, we will be dead within a very short time!" Dr Chopra says... Until now I didn't quiet realize, how important the Subconscious Mind is...  There is always something new to learn, right?

At times of extreme danger (Emotional or Physical) our Subconscious Mind, would look at the situation at hand and analyze, the emergency signals it receives... After assessing the situation (To see weather it is a matter of Life or Death) this "Inner Computer", would immediately put on hold, our bodily functions (those which can be postponed...) So it can handle the threat at hand... The main job of this "Computer" is to protect us at times of danger... Doing so, by puting  on hold, for as long as it is possible, some of our Bodily Functions and Emotions; in order to treat and solve the immediate and most threatening problem...

After the Six Days War in 1967Brosh, my High School friend, who was a Tank Commander, told me that when ever there was a break from the battle, one could see soldiers spread around the sand dunes urinating... Needless to say that when your life is in danger, you don't raise your hand and ask for permission to go to the bathroom..."

In order to understand better, the powerful effects our Subconscious Mind has on our life (besides being able to control our' Bodily Needs') I would like to describe a case history, of one of my clients, a young woman in her late twenties, with whom I worked on and off, for a long time... A few months, prior to her visit, "Lisa" developed a saver anxiety, while driving on the freeway... After probing a bit, I found out that she was experiencing this problem 'Only on the way to work', not when she was driving back home and never on the Weekend... Well, one doesn't need to have a PhD, in order to figure out, that something 'quiet  troubling', was going on at Lisa's Work Place, which was a Law Office, where she worked as an 'Office Manager' and was supervised by two partners for several years...

Lisa , who came from a Catholic family was the oldest of seven children... Her father, who was a Traveling Salesman, came home Infrequently... Lisa's mother suffered from severe Migraine headaches   and often disappear into a dark room for several hours... Lisa became a "Junior Mom", remembering  herself at the age of three (Yes, just 3 Years old!) Holding a crying baby bother, trying to calm him...   Poor Lisa had no childhood... As the years past by she had to get up very early in the morning, prepare the children's breakfast, as well as lunch for school, wake them up and make sure they wash and get dressed... After school when her friends were playing Lisa had to help her siblings with Home Work... having no time left,  to work on her own and was getting bad grades...

Lisa's family was very poor... She told me about a time when her mother found out, that the bananas   she bought disappeared... The mom made the kids stand in a line and with a threatening ton of voice    was asking: “Who ate the bananas?!No one said a word; finally, Lisa stepped forward and said; "I did"  (which was not so She was always 'Covering Upfor her brothers and sisters... The siblings learned to expect her 'Over Protectiveness' and took advantage of it... They also resented her attempts to discipline them and were rebelling in many ways...

It turned outthat at the law office, were Lisa was working, were 'Nine Employees'; working under her...  One of the partnersworked in the office and the other, was traveling most of the time... It seemes  that Lisa (or rather her Subconscious Mind) recreated her own childhood: Two partners, one who was often absent (her father) Nine 'employees, (her siblings) whom she was always 'Rescuing' by assuming responsibilities for their mistakes, protecting them from the strict and raging of the second partner (her mother)... Just like her brothers and sisters, Lisa's fellow employees, expected her to take care of them  and were taking her for granted, resisting and resenting her... (Sounds familiar?)

I explained to Lisa that it seems, as if, her subconscious mind (which often uses Associations) was      the one, which created her latest anxiety; "Fear of driving on the freeway".This lovely young woman    was trying hard to get rid of the horrible pain, she was dealing with over her 'Stolen Childhood. I was     helping her grieve for the little girl, who was forced into a roll of an adult, at such a young age and   guided her, how to "Mourn" the loss of her Carefree Childhood... Besides Traditional Therapy, I used Hypnosis; which helped clear her pain and was teaching her, how to 'embrace' her deprived and suffering Inner Child, by giving it now, the love which was missing in the past... Four months after we completed our  work, Lisa met the 'man of her dreams' and got married... I was invited for the wedding, but was unable to do so, since I was on a vaction in Israel, where I was visiting with my family and friends...

A year later Lisa came to see me again...  Her husband wanted to start a family, but she was terrified of having children... "What is wrong with me?" She lamented. "My fear of driving is gone, I am happy, I love my husband; why do I have to create problems?!" "Well Lisa" I said "I don't know how eager I would be  to have children, if I was forced to become a Mother at the age of Three..." I helped her overcome the new Issue' (having a baby) and after two Hypnosis sessions, gave her a hug and wished her good luck!     A year later Lisa called to tell me she had a baby boy... For the next three years, I was receivingfrom her Christmas cards and photos of her husband and their three children, then slowley lost touch...

With Love and Light,
Shira.
